When the key turns and the first pulses of electricity spark through the engine there is a mental trigger. A blink of past memories.

The engine roars and rattles through your bones, you can feel the delicate balance of the combustion beneath you torquing this intricately crafted heap of metal forward.

Watching your hands vibrate beyond clear recognition, it’s hard to say whether you’re in control or hanging on for dear life. You lean forward into the familiar crouch. The violent roar of the engine begins to fade into the background, a meditative drone. The soft whistle of the wind across your visor created by one of the many wisps of wind licking at your clothes and skin. Your body is open to the mercy of the elements. Your knuckles are cold, you can feel even the slightest change in temperature, the little pockets of air dotting the road.
